Studies: born 1956, studies of Law and Political Science in Muenster/ Westphalie and Geneva; EC- and UN-internships; Research Associate at the University Frankfurt; PhD (Dr.) - thesis on international environmental law, Research Fellow with a post-doctoral PhD-thesis (habilitatio) on comparative export, international trade & Constitutional law (USA, Japan, EC) at the University of Frankfurt, and Visiting Fellow at the Universities of Michigan, California (Berkeley), Georgetown, Kobe and Tokyo.

Attorney:at the bar of Frankfurt/Giessen since 1996, inter alia as head of the practice group Regulatory Law in international law firms (White & Case, Feddersen and Ashursts), responsible for regulatory law „in her infinite variety“, and since 2002 founder and attorney/partner with Hohmann & Partner Attorneys at law and now as owner/attorney with Hohmann Rechtsanwälte, Attorneys at law.

Law Areas in which he is active: EU/US export control law, EU/US customs law, criminal business law (esp. violations against export, customs or chemicals law), international contract and distribution law (incl. sales agents law), EC/WTO Law, law of chemicals (law of foodstuffs, cosmetics, biocidal products, chemicals) & product safety law, other business law (esp. data protection, competition and antitrust law), Constitutional Law and international law (esp. EU and WTO Law).

Teaching et al: (additional activities without payment): Senior Lecturer at the J. W. Goethe-University Frankfurt for German and comparative regulatory law and for international and European Law since 1999, in addition, guest professor at the Osaka City University; lectures/presentations are given in Europe, Asia and USA; Procter & Gamble environmental prize 1992; German representative in the Climate Change Committee of the International Law Association.

Additional knowledge: Since 2002 giving advice and legal expert opinions on customs/export trade law, including law suits of vital importance (e.g. law suits to the European Court of Justice, the German Federal Tax Court, the German Federal Constitutional Court), permanently negotiations/hearings with the German export agency BAFA/German ministry for economic affairs- and also with other EU agencies -, customs agencies and prosecutor offices and with US export and customs agencies; seminar presentations or in-house seminars for globally active companies (incl. DAX companies, small and medium-sized companies and financial services providers), for business associations (in Germany and Japan) and for seminar providers like Management Circle, several German chambers of commerce, FAZ, MAV, RKW, SMI, and for seminars for Hohmann Rechtsanwälte.
